The event will be held at: Hallmark Hotel, Ferriby High Road, North Ferriby, HU14 3LG and will start at 14:00 with registration opening at 13:45 on the 22nd of February 2018, the event is expected to last around two hours but could run over depending on questions.
The EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR for short) is the result of four years of work by the EU to bring data protection legislation into line with new, previously unforeseen ways that data is now used.
The Data Protection Act was passed in 1998 and was a direct result of European legislation passed in 1995. That means we have had the same data protection regime for the past 20 years! The world has changed a lot since then – Google launched in 1998, now they process over 40,000 search queries every second.
In school terms, things have changed massively over the past couple of decades too. From a mere 800,000 computers in UK schools in 1998, to several million now; we are processing more data than ever before.
Becoming GDPR compliant can be a daunting and a massive task for schools. With that in mind, Pepperells Solicitors, GDPR 365 and Primary Tec invite you all to our free information event, to ask anything from a technical point of view and indeed a legal point of view covering the new data protection rules.
We encourage all Head Teachers, business managers and Data Protection Officers to attend this session, you will leave armed with an action plan and a clear picture of how GDPR will affect your school and a solution to tacking the huge task ahead.
