For those experiencing abusive, harassing or threatening behaviour, we can advise on and obtain court orders for protection. We are accredited specialists in cases of domestic abuse and provide the highest level of service to ensure the rights of our clients are upheld.
Often, one of the most frightening thoughts when trying to end an abusive relationship is the potential repercussions of that decision. Abusive behaviour can also continue long after a relationship has ended and sometimes people may struggle to know where to turn or how to put a stop to it.
Domestic abuse is not always physical – you may feel threatened or harassed – and can have a devastating effect on the lives of you and your children. We can act in cases of coercive control, financial abuse and emotional abuse to make sure the behaviour stops and you can live your life without fear.
Protective injunctions are just one of the ways in which we can help safeguard you and provide reassurance through difficult times.
Non Molestation and Occupation Orders are available from the Family Courts and are intended to protect the holder from the behaviour of a partner, ex-partner or other family member. Similar to a Restraining Order, a Non Molestation Order would ensure that your abuser cannot contact you or continue their behaviour, including through third parties or social media such as Facebook. In some circumstances orders can regulate who lives in the family home. Such orders are civil injunctions and can be made irrespective of criminal charges (or lack thereof).
Orders can be obtained on an urgent basis and, where necessary, without notifying the other person in advance. Any discussions between you and your solicitor are confidential and all precautions will be taken to ensure your utmost safety.
At Pepperells we know that every case is different and we offer a personal face-to-face service with advice tailored to your specific circumstances. We also offer advice regarding private arrangements for children.
We work closely with agencies in the local area including Hull DAP, DVAP, Women’s Aid, Purple House and Blue Door. As well as providing you with legal advice we can also put you in touch with the right people to get all the help you need.
