Consumer Rights Act 2015

The Consumer Rights Act protects a consumer by ensuring that fair treatment, high-quality goods and a satisfactory service are provided. There are clear guidelines supplied to businesses under the Act, on their obligations towards consumers and standards which their goods must meet.

The Act provides several key rights to consumers. You can therefore expect goods to be of satisfactory quality, free from defects and fit for the purpose for which they are intended. Services must also be carried out with reasonable care, skill and within a reasonable time frame.

If goods or services are faulty, a consumer has the right to repair, replacement or a refund. Compensation for damage caused by faulty goods or services can also be awarded.

Consumers usually have 30 days to reject faulty goods and receive a full refund. After this period, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement.

If you have a dispute regarding the Consumer Right Act 2015 or believe your rights have been breached, please contact our Dispute Resolution team for guidance on the best course of action and remedies available to you.
