Why making a Will is important

Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA’s)

A common misconception is that with the presence of a Will an individual does not require Lasting Powers of Attorney or vice versa. The key difference is that a Will comes into force upon death, Lasting Powers of Attorney become null and void on death, however protect you during lifetime.

There are two different types, Health and Welfare and Property and Financial Affairs. A Health and Welfare LPA allow you to appoint individuals to make decisions in relation to any medical treatment or care you may require in the event you have lost capacity. A Property and Financial affairs LPA allow your attorneys to assist dealing with matters in relation to your property or bank accounts for example.
