Position Overview: We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Public Law (Care) Paralegal to join our dedicated family law department. In this role, you will provide invaluable support to the team and take ownership of your own workload. As one of the primary points of contact for clients seeking assistance with public law (care) issues, you will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional service and advice.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake general administrative tasks, including diary management, filing, printing, scanning, binding, and photocopying.
  • Draft legal documents such as bundles and court applications.
  • Communicate with clients via email, telephone, and face-to-face meetings in the office.
  • Conduct legal research to support case preparation.
  • Assist and shadow solicitors during case proceedings.
  • Manage your own caseload, ensuring accurate file maintenance in line with office procedures.
  • Provide clear instructions and advice to clients in writing.

Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications:

  • Previous legal work experience, preferably in public law (care), is desirable.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellent client care and a passion for public law (care) work.
  • Proficiency in IT, particularly in Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients.
  • Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional organisational abilities.
  • A collaborative team-working approach.
  • Effective administrative capabilities.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Accurate and efficient time management skills.
  • Ability to identify problems, handle complaints, and manage risks effectively.
  • Capability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and proactively tackle challenges.
  • Experience with a case management system is desirable, although full training will be provided.
